What time do the gates open? What time is the first race?
Gate opening time and first race times vary between race days. Gates usually open at least 1 hour prior to the first race. For confirmation of times please call us 02 4961 1573
Can I bring alcohol into the races?
Wine Country Race Club is a fully licensed and you are not permitted to bring alcohol into the venue. WCRC practices Responsible Service of Alcohol and all goods/bags/eskies etc will be checked prior to entrance to the racecourse.
Food Restrictions
Members and Patrons please note that effective from the race meeting on Saturday 13 December 2008, the only food able to be brought onto the premises is for dietary/health requirements or otherwise by special permission.
Do you have catering?
WCRC has a refreshment kiosk on course which is open each raceday where light food snacks and drinks are available. WCRC catering department are only too happy to accommodate large groups or special needs. If you have any special requirements or extra catering needs you may order up to five days prior to raceday.
What about marquees?
Marquees' are available for hire on request at any of the 13 meetings. Special packages are made available for Jungle Juice raceday. Please phone 02 4961 1573
What do I wear?
Entry to the general admission areas of the racecourse requires guests to be neatly dressed. Shoes and a shirt must be worn at all times. Please refer to the Terms & Conditions of entry for full details on dress regulations for entering the WCRC.
Can I reserve outdoor tables and chairs?
Outdoor tables and chairs are freely available to all general admission guests on a first-come, first-served basis.
Can I have my bucks' party at the WCRC?
No, due to conditions of WCRC licensing & regulations WCRC is not permitted to allow bucks parties entry to the course.
Can I bring my children to the races? Are there any restrictions?
Newcastle Jockey Club is a licensed venue. No minors are allowed on the premises unless accompanied by a parent or guardian. A wristband system is in place, whereby all guardians to wear a yellow G wristband and their minors a yellow M wristband - these will be issued at front gate. The parent or guardian must accompany all children under the age of 18 entering the venue at all times.
Children 16 years receive complimentary admission.
Children within the Members' Enclosure must be suitably attired. Please click here for Members' Enclosure dress standards.
There are no restricted areas within the racecourse, however children under the age of 18 are not allowed to approach any beverage outlets or saddling enclosure.
Smoking
As the Wine Country Race Club is a public venue and is subject to venue smoking laws, smoking will only be permitted on lawn areas. Fines will be issued by Health Officials to those caught smoking in non smoking areas.
Where is lost property?
Lost property is located in the main office at WCRC. Lost property items are stored for a period of 3 months and will then be donated to charity. All enquiries regarding lost property should be directed to 02 4990 1639.
